In a case of literature inspiring baking, Breads Bakery teamed up with Israeli writer Etgar Keret, to create a "Keret Cake." Not to be confused with a carrot cake, the Keret Cake is a soft, mildly lemony sponge cake topped with a crunchy streusel. It's wrapped in an original short story called "Cake Break" which was inspired by his story "Crumb Cake" which appears in his latest volume, Fly Away, which was published in 2018.

Last fall, Keret came to the Union Square location to meet with Breads' creative team and taste cake samples while in New York on his book tour. The Keret Cake is $18 and is available at Breads' Union Square and Lincoln Center locations through March 24.
