Jewish Foodies Win Big at 2017 James Beard Awards

Two chefs from top-rated Israeli restaurants were awarded prestigious James Beard Awards: Michael Solomonov of Zahav in Philadelphia, was named Outstanding Chef while Zachary Engel of Shaya in New Orleans is the Rising Star Chef of the Year. 

Cookie maven Dorie Greenspan's Dorie's Cookies took the 2017 James Beard Media Awards prize for Baking and Dessert and healthy eating guru Ellie Krieger's You Have it Made: Delicious, Healthy, Do-Ahead Meals won for the Health category. Andrew Zimmern won for his Travel Channel television show, Andrew Zimmern’s Bucket List; Andrew Zimmern’s Driven by Food; Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern.

Members of the Tribe were also among the nominees including Uri Scheft for Breaking Breads: A New World of Israeli Baking and Ina Garten for Cooking for Jeffrey: A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook.
